The appointment builds on his role as Regional Chief Executive for East Africa at Standard Bank Group and his extensive record leading financial institutions across the region.

Dr. Oigara has held the top regional role since September 2025, overseeing operations across Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Ethiopia.

His experience includes senior leadership at KCB Bank Group, Bamburi Cement, PwC, and the Kenya Bankers Association. His record spans institutional transformation, regional market development, financial inclusion, and digital banking.

Born in 1975, Dr. Joshua Nyamweya Oigara is a Kenyan businessman, accountant, and corporate executive recognised as one of East Africa's leading voices in financial services.

His journey began as a mathematics teacher. He went on to build experience across audit, manufacturing, cement, and banking before becoming one of the youngest chief executives of a publicly listed company on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
